Keyword Density And Authors - Some Light Remarks on Density

I should have seen it coming. I had asked for feedback on an ebook I had written on Article Marketing. The feedback came with some weak praise together with a remark that I had neglected Keyword Density. I thanked my reviewer and refrained from pointing out that Keyword density had exactly the amount of attention that it deserved - none. I thought no more of it until I got an email from Chris Knight of ezinearticles complaining that many authors were writing articles with an inflated Keyword density.

There's no avoiding it, so here goes.

A keyword is a word or phrase used by people searching for information online with the aid of a search engine. If the keyword phrase is "golf shoes" the search engine scans its database for articles on "golf shoes" then it sorts the articles into an order depending on how relevant they are and then presents them for viewing. So far, so good. The nub of the issue is how the search engine knows what is best.

In the early days it was easy for the search engine to find out what a webpage was about. All it had to do was look at the title and meta description tags on the webpage and then compute the keyword density. Keyword density is just the number of keywords on the page per hundred words. If our shopper found an article on golf shoes 300 words long and the phrase "golf shoes was found 6 times then (6 / 300) x 100 = 2%.

What this gives us is a simple way of working out how important a page is. A webpage that mentions "golf shoes" 10 times is probably going to be more useful to our shopper that a page that mentions "golf shoes" once per 100 words.

I guess it had to happen. Webmasters started "stuffing" keywords into articles with the enthusiasm of a Chef stuffing a turkey. The Keyword density on webpages began to soar and the folk running the search engines were unable to tell which article was best for their users. It was clear that keyword density was less important to the search and it began to be discounted by the search engines.

Google was probably the first to respond to the spamming of the web by what came to be called "keyword stuffing". Predictably some webmasters thought they could outwit Google and started to repeat their keywords dozens of times on the page with, for example, a white typeface on a white background.

While the Quality department at Google were deleting keyword stuffed webpages from their index their colleagues had developed a revolutionary form of advertising called Adsense. A webpage with Adsense on it will display advertisements on it that match the content of the page. So a page with an article about the best shoes to wear while playing golf will show Adsense advertisements on golf shoes.

The implications of this are that Google can judge for itself what the page is about. It does not need to read the meta tags and does not need to work out the keyword density.

Consequently Google started to discount meta tags and keyword density.

Many webmasters persisted with their folly in spite of explanations from Search Engine experts such as Aaron Wall, Jill Whalen and Colin McDougall.

Instead of counting keywords Google is looking at the relationships between the words. There is a natural structure in language and a well constructed and informative article would be expected to have a variety of words relevant to a topic as well as a smattering of technical terms and slang.

Writing in a natural way is the only way to get the word relationships Google is looking for in its quest for high quality and writing to target a particular keyword density is an effective way to tell Google that the article concerned is of little value.

The search engines have been telling us for years to write for our visitors and not for the search engines. For years we have been ignoring this advice but the search technology now in place is so good that deliberately trying to rank in the search results by artificial means is self defeating.

And that is why my book did not feature keyword density!

Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing - Is It The Same?

What is the difference between Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing? Is there any difference at all? Yes, there is a difference, although these 2 are often overlapping.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is by definition a professional technical skill which revolves around the way we code our website, and ensuring a particular website ranks well on the organic listing of major search engines, for a set of chosen keywords.

On the other hand, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is to market a particular service or product through the major search engines, either by using pay-per-click, banners, etc. It will be somehow similar to physical marketing, whereby factors like brand, price, positioning and unique selling point become much more important.

For a business who wishes to establish its branding on the Internet, it will be silly to ignore the fundamental of search optimization even if they have the budget to drive traffic to their websites through pay-per-click programs like Adwords. To have a successful search engine marketing campaign, you will need both search optimization and pay-per-click.

A business can use search optimization to optimize a core set of keywords that are closely related to their business, while using Adwords to diversify into other market and creating more exposure for his or her business. As search optimization will usually takes months before one can see results, it will be wise for a business to use Adwords to target its core keywords at the beginning, until they are rank well on the organic listings.

In Search Marketing, we will be focusing more on keywords as we will need to bid for them. To have a successful search marketing campaign, you will need to find "long tailed keywords", which refers to the larger selection of less frequently searched terms. For example, the keyword "search engine optimization" is considered a rather broad keyword, whereas the keyword "Singapore search engine optimization specialists services" is considered a long tailed keyword. Of course, for all keywords that you choose, you need to make sure that they have enough search volume to drive enough traffic to your website.

Traffic from the search engines definitely plays a very important part in your online success. The traffic generated from search engines are more targeted and you will be able to benefit from them by converting them into your opt-in subscribers, and thus into future customers.

Hope that now you have a clearer understanding between the difference between search engine optimization and search engine marketing.

Article Marketing Success Tip - How To Write A Killer Resource Box

The whole point of article marketing is to establish yourself as an expert in your market niche as you want the reader to visit your web page. That is a given.

So, you work hard to write article, but if your resource box is poorly written. You will have a very very low click through rate. But that is no big deal because I am going to show you how to create an awesome resource box that will skyrocket your click through.

So the first thing you want to do is understand your market in niche. What is the underlying psychology that will drive the reader to visit your web page?

Let's take the dating niche for example. In your resource box you do not want to say "visit my webpage for more dating tips" because that is too general. But rather if you want to make it more specific and beneficial to the reader. Such as "I am a dating coach and I would like to invite you to my website where you can get a free five day mini-course on how to approach women"

That the more detailed and more benefit your resource box, the higher your click through rate. Sounds good in theory but in reality. You have to constantly track how good your click through rate is by installing a stat code into your web page (such as Google analytic)

Another tip is to write a short three to five page report in .PDF format and offer to give it away free to your readers in order to entice them to visit your webpage. This works very well because if the reader's interest in your article. He will naturally, visit your webpage, because of the awesome report.

So in order to have article marketing success you have to have a killer resource box that has a high click through rate, Otherwise you're a whole article marketing attempt this is just going to be one big flop.

Productive Article Marketing - Latest 5 Remarkable Steps to Impact Your Article Marketing

With a lot of article marketers competing for the attention of online users, you need to devise mechanisms that can help you and your articles stand out from the rest. This is the fastest way to make yourself and your website popular in the World Wide Web that can lead to increased page views and improved sales potential.

1. Make your titles truly impacting and effective. As you know, online users choose articles to read base on their titles alone. If your headlines are lousy, you can be sure that your articles will be left unread. Don't let that happen by using attention-grabbing titles that are direct to the point and descriptive of the content of your articles.

2. Provide unique content. Don't just search the web for articles to rewrite. Strive to give your readers information that cannot be found elsewhere. This is one of the most effective ways to brand yourself as a great source of information online.

3. Be consistent. Avoid presenting conflicting ideas on your articles to prevent confusing your readers. Take a firm stand about the issue you write about and stick to it.

4. Check your facts. In distributing information, it is very important that your content is accurate and well-founded to avoid misleading your readers. Back up your claims, especially those which are relatively new, with studies, researches, statistics, and other reputable resources.

5. Make your articles search-engine friendly. You must be familiar with keyword usage and appropriate keyword density. You must also know how to use Latent Semantic Indexing that can help you figure out other related keywords that you can use to better rank on search engines.

Seo And The Long Tail: Can You Optimize For The Occasional Visitor? Part 1

Recently Chris Anderson published a book call the Long Tail. He goes into great detail about on how the ecommerce model is set up ideally for the Long tail and it can have the greatest impact on your business. But How can you really take advantage of that knowledge and do search engine optimization for the occasional visitor?

First you need to understand what the Long Tail really is. In a nutshell the Long Tail is the segmenting of the larger Market into very specific niches and sub-niches. For example if the general market you are in is Pets then a niche would be exotic or domestic, indoor or outdoor, Large or small, etc. Sub-niches of those could be cats, dogs, fishes, birds etc. You could segment it into even more sub niches from there by taking dogs and putting them into large, small, long haired, short hair, child friendly etc. The possibilities are really endless and that is the inherent problem with the Long Tail effect. With so many possibilities it does not become financial or physically possible to do effective Search engine optimization for all the possibilities that will be used by everyone.

SEO Challenges

You must know how your visitor is reaching your site. The are infinite possibilities on how this can happen so you want to be able to track it when it happens. If you are not using some type of Web Analytic Software then you should start immediately. Google makes it's analytic available to anyone who uses their Adwords service.

Once you have analytics in place you can look for trends of the visitor that come to your site. Here are things to check for

  • Keyword terms and phrases used
  • Web site they came from
  • Pages more frequently visited
Once you have that information you can see the patterns that your visitor leave you. Check out the relationship between keyword terms and phrase to the type of site and web pages that your visitor spend the most time on.

This will give you valuable information an any type of sub-niche that you can now target.

In Part 2 of the article we will look at how to segment your seo results and the best practices to get it done.

How A Good Keyword Inspires Connection - A Soft Sell Point of View

What's the purpose of a keyword?

Technically a keyword is used to find useful results in an Internet search. Type in your keyword and the search engine returns a list of sites where that word is found.

And to be even more technical, a keyword (or any word for that matter) is a combination of 1s and 0s that allows a message to be transmitted across the web to your computer or vice versa..

Just to be clear - a keyword can be one word - for example "insurance " - or a keyword can be a string of words (known as a long tail keyword) - for example "honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean." Both are referred to with the singular "keyword.."

Because the Internet is fundamentally a text based medium, words are the basic tool everyone uses to travel and navigate the web.

Even with the onset of audio and video, search engine spyders cannot read anything but text. So no matter how impressive a site may appear to be, the spyders read only words and that's why keywords are so important.

Okay, that's the head side of a keyword. What about the heart side?

As a marketer, what are you doing - really doing - when you're searching out the best keywords to place in an online ad, or build a sales page, or write an article?

Ultimately you're trying to connect with the heart of your potential buyer, your ideal customer - right?

In fact, think about yourself for a moment.

Bring to mind a time when you searched online for something you really wanted, something significant that you searched for and found.

What were you thinking and feeling when you searched for the right place to get what you needed or wanted?

Oh sure, you might have thought about the money - how much or how little. Maybe you were concerned about the brand name - Nike, Ben and Jerry's, or Pontiac. And location might have been a factor - made in the U.S.A or made in China.

But none of that really, really, really mattered did it?

Because there were deeper thoughts and feelings that were driving you to search - weren't there?

And it's those deeper thoughts that contained the keywords that were specific to you and your desire.

And more deeply, what about what you were feeling? How did your feelings color your thoughts?

And - when it came to what you typed into the search bar - what specific words did you use to describe your particular need, your specific feeling of need?

You may have been excited with the anticipation of pleasure and your feelings and thoughts followed.

You may have been in pain and were desperate to find a way out. That certainly would have generated a different kind of feeling state and the thoughts that matched.

Now, imagine if someone marketing exactly what you were looking for had understood what you were feeling and thinking and chose keywords that matched your experience. Wouldn't there have been an instant connection?

Yes, of course!

You would have made your purchase with ease and comfort and relief knowing you'd found the right place.

That's the real power of keywords. They make a connection. They are the first moment in the building of a relationship.

Not just 1s and 0s, but the grounds for an identification between marketer and searcher. A sense of - "You know who I am. You know what I'm going through." That's far more than just technical. It's a deeply personal and felt connection.

Keywords ARE personal. Very personal. They are the doorway into the mind and heart of your prospective customer. They are the touchpoint between two people - one with a problem needing to be solved or a desire to be fulfilled and the other with the solution.

And this month you can meet a true keywords magician, Greg Cesar. SEO Tips: How to Organize Your Site For Fast Ranking

In my last keyword building article I wrote about how to select keywords that would generate the highest return with the least amount of work.

I demonstrated how employing advanced search strings and recording Overture data can be used to find keywords with very little competition and high search volumes. My conclusion was that by conducting keyword research in this manner, ranking for keywords becomes easier.

The next step in Keyword Building is learning how to organize a site around a keyword list for fast ranking and best results. The following is my strategy for doing so.

What Youll Need

  • A finalized list of keywords as well as their corresponding search volumes and number of competitors.
  • Excel, or some other spreadsheet program.
  • An understanding of the sites industry, and which terms are semantically related.
  • Enough SEO knowledge to decide which words from your list are "low competition."

Low Competition Keywords
"Low competition" is a relative term. To illustrate why, search the term "Marietta, Georgia real estate" in Google. Here are the key numbers:
  • 99 inachor and intitle competitors for the term
  • 1,300 searches for the term each month
  • 330.8 average backlinks for a top 10 result
  • 4.2 average page rank of a top 10 result

Now here are some seemingly perplexing numbers regarding the 9th result:
  • It has only 8 backlinks
  • It also has a PR of 0

Meanwhile the 10th result has
  • 240 backlinks
  • PR of 3

This raises the question of why the 10th result doesnt rank higher than the 9th result, as well as why the 9th result is even on the first page. The answer is two-fold:
  • The 9th result is a sub-page optimized singularly for that search term.
  • The 9th results domain has roughly 1.1 million more backlinks than any other site on the SERP and is a subdomain of Yahoo.com.

For Yahoo, a term with 99 competitors and 1,300 searches every month is very "low competition." However, because it has optimized a page for the search term, and is well trusted by Google, it easily ranks.

When organizing your keywords, picking out the "low competition" words is an integral part to driving traffic. Devote a page to every word that will easily rank from your list, optimizing the title tag, h1 tag and keyword density.

Remember, just as you look to Yahoo, thinking, "I wish I could rank for a word like that without having to link-build" so too will a site smaller than yours say of your "low competition" keyword pages.

High Competition Keywords
Keywords that will require a link-building strategy before ranking are considered "high competition." High competition keywords should be broken down into semantically similar groups. Intuition is largely used to separate the keywords, but here are a few universal guidelines:
  • Keep the groups under 6 words each.
  • Group phrases together with more than one word in common.
  • Check to see if two keywords return similar results in Google.
  • No group should have only 1 keyword. Maximize the efforts of your link building.

Once the keywords have been semantically split, prepare an optimized title tag containing all of the keywords from that group. Also choose one word from each group which is the most important to get ranking. That term should be what is in the anchor text of your links when you begin a link building campaign.

Overall, this strategy will save you hours of fiddling and tweaking. Remember, SEO is no different than any other business process

An Alternative Way Of Using Articles For Your Affiliate Marketing

We are all seeking for ways to increase traffic to our sites and preferably through free methods. One of the most popular ways of achieving this is by using articles submitted to article directories such as Ezine articles and Goarticles.

However this is only one of a number of ways you can use articles to drive traffic to your site, another way of course is by submitting your articles as posts to your blogs, but I want to discuss an alternative way of using article and that is a system I call affiliate explosions.

Play on words here, you may have heard the term affiliate land mines and affiliate bombs, well I had to be different and affiliate explosions is the term I use. So what's involved?

This system utilises a squeeze page and your starting point will be picking your niche.

The other things you will need is:

1. Domain and hosting

2. Web site called a squeeze page or landing page

3. A free offer of sorts to attract your visitors into providing you with their name and email

address.

4. An opt in form to collect the visitors personal details

5. An auto responder to automate the system

6. A series of follow up emails to make back end offers.

The above represents the basic requirements when implementing a squeeze page or landing page. So what do we do next? The first thing we need to do is determine our main broadest keyword term for the niche we are working with. Once you have done this you need to conduct some keyword research with your starting point been your main keyword. So these are the steps:-

1. We are looking for keywords associated with your niche that has 100,000 and less competing sites showing on google for your keywords. We are looking to focus upon the long tail keywords that are attracting searches but without the high levels of competition associated with the most prime and popular keywords in your niche.

2. Your aim is to find lets say 15 to 20 of these and write articles built around each keyword. You will need to either do this yourself, or hire some one to write the articles for you. Each article should contain your keyword in the title and once each paragraph, any more than this and you could be accused of keyword spamming.

3. You then link a site map from your squeeze page, on your squeeze page there will be links to each individual article page followed by an advertising link from your article page to your squeeze page.

In doing this the search engines love content, so you are creating a squeeze page and a content site all in one. You are also attracting traffic through searched but lower competing terms, in a short period of time your pages will get indexed. This is an alternative but complementary approach to using articles for your affiliate marketing promotions.

Affiliated Marketing In A Nutshell

Regardless of your market, industry, or business size there are many great ways to make money online. Of course, everyone wants to expend as little as possible, while generating as much as possible. Well, it is your lucky day because I am going to explain to you a way to spend nothing unless you are making something.

Only on the internet can you deploy a marketing campaign that allows you to brand and reinforce your corporate identity with money generating possibilities without spending a dime unless you make significantly more than a dime. Only on the internet can you spread your marketing reaches to new, untapped resources to expand your business without reaching into your pocket until it's time to put money in it.

How the hell is this? I know you are asking yourself that very question... well, I have an answer for you: Affiliated Marketing.

What the hell is that? Well, open your mind, read thoroughly and learn something.

Affiliated Marketing (AM) is the future of online marketing, and perhaps the future of all marketing. People are typically very unsettled about incorporating new methods of marketing into their current campaigns because there is a risk to lose money before you make it. With AM you don't risk losing any money and you only pay out when you make money. Yes, you make the money first and then you pay.

Very simply, as an affiliate, you place your advertisement on web sites that agree to publish it. That advertisement will sit their branding your business and your site until someone clicks on it. Do you pay when someone clicks? NO. In fact, you only pay once a site visitor purchases a product or service from your website. If somebody purchases a product or service from your site as a direct result from clicking on that advertisement, then you pay the advertiser a commission of that sale. That level of commission would be previously decided upon between you and your publisher(s).

This is great isn't it?!

Here are some tips for successful Affiliated Marketing:

1) Enroll in Affiliated Marketing Networks, which will provide you very easy access to thousands of business already involved in these sort of programs enabling you to contact them to potentially publish your ad. Some great Networks that I have personally seen great success through are CommissionJunction.com and LinkShare.com. They will not only help you become successful by aiding in your networking, but they make billing and commission payments an automated sinch.

2) Target websites that fall into your market sector but are NOT competition. For example, if you are a computer wholesaler, you wouldn't want to place your advertisement on other computer wholesaler's sites(and they probably wouldn't publish you anyway), but you would want to place your advertisement on a video gamer website.

3) Be creative when looking for publishers, don't go for the obvious because so is everyone else. For example, if you are a title company of course you want to be on every mortgage banking website, but what about being on a Divorce Attorney's website? These newly separated individuals will be looking for a house soon.

4) Keep excellent track of your analytics. Nobody wants to publish an ad for a company that doesn't have documented proof of their unique visitors, page views, and ultimately their sales. Keep very detailed history reports to showcase to these potential publishers that they can make money off you too. That is ideal, for both parties to make money.

5) Don't have those records because you lazily lost track or perhaps you are a new website? Don't worry. Start off small. There are other companies in the same position you are who are looking to get involved as a publisher but don't have a history report or are new, as well. Give them a chance, and they may give you a chance. You both stand to gain experience, knowledge, and money!

6) Offer discounts to these new markets. You are extending your marketing reach to a new area outside of your current campaign reach. With that said, incentively encourage new clients or consumers to try your product or service. what do you have to lose? This is market you otherwise weren't reaching anyway. Also, this will encourage publishers to carry your product. Sales sell better.

7) Use this an opportunity to test new products, services, discounts, or anything for that matter. Remember these ads can run on contract without payment until the ad produces revenue. With that understanding, use this as an opportunity to get creative to explore your limits and to introduce new things to consumers. Who knows, you may discover your next big hit without paying a cent to test the market.

8) Do your best to make the ads profitable! Remember, you don't have to pay to run your ads, but the publishers also don't have to continue carrying your ad if it doesn't produce results for them. So, design aesthetically pleasing ads that will generate revenue for your publishers. Change your advertisement often, and offer great discounts to help make your publishers money too. You can also offer sales contests or limited time additional commissions for your publishers to encourage them to sell more for you. As long as they are making money so will you.

9) Keep an eye on your ads, how they are being presented and how they are placed. If your ad is located in a less than profitable area on a website, ask that it be moved. If you realize your publisher is behaving in a way that you do not want your service or product associated, then remove your ad entirely. As much as advertising can help you, it can hurt you, as well. Keep a close eye on your ads.

10) Ask local companies with websites, that are not necessarily active in a Affiliated Marketing Network, to publish your advertisement. To make it easier, encourage them to get involved in the same network you are. if they refuse but are still interested, then have them publish your advertisement anyway, but the billing and commission payments will have to be done manually.

Now that you see the awesome potential of Affiliated Marketing, get involved! Start making more money!

And next week, I will address how to be a successful publisher. And yes, you can be both!

If you have any questions or comments, I love to hear from our readers and will promptly respond.

Cheers,

Article Marketing - Next Level of Article Marketing

Article marketing is a technique thats been used over the internet for the past few years. Its a very simple technique where you simply write articles to promote your website and submit it to article directories. This is very easy to do, and can gain a huge amount of exposure for whatever it is your promoting.

Then Bum Marketing came along. Its basically article marketing with a punch. You basically optimize the articles that youre writing for a certain long tail keyword. So if you were writing an article about weight loss for example, you might optimize your page the phrase how to lose weight quickly, using the phrase as the title and a few throughout the article.

This would enable you to get your article listed in the search engines as theres a lot less competition for the keyword how to lose weight quickly than there is for weight loss. Used in the right way this can be a very powerful technique.

Today, Bum and Article marketing has become a very popular way to promote products. Affiliates can set up a small page pre-selling the product their promoting, then write articles based around the niche using the bum marketing method. At the end of the article the affiliate can put a small Authors bio that would point to there pre-sales page.

This method has recently been upgraded again. New techniques have pushed Bum marketing methods into overdrive, making it a very easy way to make cash online.

Search Engine Optimization - Let's Take A Look At Some Basics

When people finally make the decision to have a go at e-commerce most of them think only of a great website and products. But I'll be the first to tell you that this is a very small consideration when it comes to being successful online. We know that the income generated from e-commerce can be very substantial. This is why more people are turning to the Internet to not only supplement their income but also to replace it.

Success Online

Being successful online is not just a matter of consistent work, it also requires planning and a proper strategy. A very effective way of success online is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This simply means constantly improving your Website ranking in search engine listings. This will keep a constant flow of new traffic to your website.

Search Engines And How They Work

A search engine is a Website that is setup to allow users to enter a keyword or phase and in return it gives results for the user that are relevant to their keywords. Obvious examples of this would be Google and Yahoo.

Search Engines use programs called Spiders or Robots that crawl through the indexed sites to return the most high ranking site in that index based on the keywords that were selected.

Most products or services are searched through these engines and this is why its important to have a high ranking. You want to be listed somewhere on the first or second page for the chosen keyword.

Search Engine Optimization For Your Website

The keyword information that these users/customers are searching with can be placed on your webpage to get consideration and high rank in search engines.

Tips For SEO

Certain e-commerce applications are designed for automatic SEO. An example would be ProStores. Avoid the use of frames that divide into separately controlled windows. Frames and search engines don't work well together. Include lots of text. The more relevant text you have the higher your ranking.

Choose the right keywords. See my article What To Consider Before Paying Per Click This will give you information on keywords and how to properly select them.

Keep updating your site. Search engines look for fresh content. If your site is constantly updated you will get and keep a higher ranking than others sites that are not updated regularly.

From this you can see that it's about more than just your product and a pretty website. What needs as much attention is what your site says and how the search engines view your material. Happy Optimizing.

Internet Marketing Articles - Mistakes 90% of New Authors Make - Do You Want Success or Failure?

Are you new to Internet marketing? Have you just started to discover article directories? By now, you have probably heard about this cost effective way of generating targeted traffic to your website or blog. I am here to tell you, that spending some time and mastering this technique can be very lucrative.

One of the first things you should do is read the rules. These are usually referred to as the, *Authors Terms of Service.* The best article directories have real people read and approve every article before they publish it. There are two important advantages to knowing the rules.

One, you don't waste your time. If you submit an article and it gets rejected, you'll have to redo parts of it one or more times. You have just wasted a bunch of time - time you could have written another article with, or just taken the rest of the day off. It probably won't take long to get discouraged if you are having these types of problems.

Two, there are levels of membership with some of the better article directories. How they determine if you are ready to achieve the next level of membership is by the quality of your articles. In part this is determined by whether or not your articles are written within the guidelines of the directory. In other words, if you have to submit your articles more than once, you are probably not ready to achieve the next level.

By the way, the higher levels of membership receive more privileges. Your articles get approved faster; you can submit more articles, and a few more things. The other advantage of achieving higher levels is that it adds to your perceived level of authority. If your reader knows they are reading an article from a Premier level Expert Author, it adds to their perception of your credentials.

Hey, every little bit helps. Remember, it is the little things that make a big difference in the long run. The more articles you write the more impact your articles have. This means more targeted traffic and more customers. By the end of the year, if you have written 150 articles and I have written 500, who do you think is going to have the best results? Learn the rules, save time and improve your confidence.

Article Marketing - Where to Submit Articles for Maximum Exposure

Every web site owner is always looking for the most effective way to generate traffic to their web site. A well written article not only creates an initial increase in visitors but keeps attracting new visitors for years to come.

Definition of Article Submission

Articles can be used as a promotional tool for marketing your web site. You write an article or have one written for you then post it on article syndication sites on the Web. People visiting these sites will republish your articles in their ezines, newsletters, blogs and web sites. For example if your article gets published in an ezine with 500,000 subscribers you will see a huge boost in traffic.

Top 10 article submission sites

There are hundreds of directories which allow you to submit articles however it would take hours to submit to all of them. Not all article directories are created equal. Not all receive the same amount of traffic therefore I have chosen the top 10 directories that get the most traffic.

Why you should not use an automatic article submission service

1. Prevent spamming

Automatic article submission services will submit your article to thousands of sites simultaneously. This is like throwing mud at the wall hoping some of it will stick. The best article directories will not receive submissions from automatic submission services. This is to prevent people spamming their web sites with low quality articles.

2. Follow guidelines

Each directory has specific guidelines for submitting an article. If you are not aware of them your article may get rejected. For example if you submit an article to a directory that only allows a minimum of 400 words and your article contains 300 words it will not be received and you will have wasted valuable time.

3. Specific control

Manual submissions allow you to enhance your articles by including specific html tags. For example bolding the headings and sub-headings will make them stand out from the main content. Creating anchor text will boost the link popularity for your web site. This increases the effectiveness of your article by attracting more readers.

Conclusion

Don't only limit yourself to article syndication sites. Expand your traffic generation strategies by submitting to specific ezines that cover the same topic or place it on your blog or web site. Select 10 articles on the same topic and put them in a report or ebook that you can offer for free or for a fee. You are only limited by your creativity.

Article Marketing - 3 Clandestine Tactics For Generating 300% More Traffic And Sales

Article marketing is a great source for free, residual traffic. You can use it to create real cash flow marketing your products or affiliate products.

First off, you must understand there are a few other less popular article sites that receive almost just as many visitors as the popular ones, such as some of the ones often mentioned in ebooks. I tend to make the most out of every article I have written so I submit to 4 to 6 of the best directories. Sometimes an article actually might receive more visitors on another less popular article directory because they don't get 'lost' in the potpourri of articles

Here's some article marketing tips you can use to fatten your bank account:

1) Sometimes when your article is submitted just before the weekend, it will have the whole weekend to get in that initial traffic.

2) Instead of linking directly to an affiliate site, build a list. Or at the very least, like you said, build a blog. And perhaps you can build a list from there.

Build your business, not just the merchant's. If you are not building a list, it's mostly short-term profits.

3) Keep it simple when outsourcing. The simpler your project sounds, the more bids you will get. Because the job will sound simple when you write it in simple form. There's not much copywriting involved, just plain English.

State how many articles you want, state the price you want per article (important) and accept nothing higher than that. I've had freelancers try to give me excuses to raise my prices (usually it's all about their problems), but don't accept it. You've got your return on investment to think about.

I use only 2 short lines for this and get more than 10 bids or more in just half a day.

Article Marketing-Persuasion Techniques

If you intend to make money from your website by using article marketing, therefore, your first objective is to get your article accepted by the directories. To achieve this, the article must be relevant to the subject, which is defined by the keywords you choose, or the title. You must persuade the article directories to publish your article. Some directories use the title, and some use keywords.

You must devise a title to persuade visitors to choose your article, or keywords relevant to the content. You must also compose a summary or description of your article that will persuade someone interested in your niche to click on your article rather than that of someone else.

Thats just the start. You must then write the article in such a way that it retains the interest of the reader. It is much easier to click away from your article that read through it, so it must provide an answer to a question or a solution to a problem. The days are gone when a meaningless article would attract visitors to click on Adsense ads. If your readers believe that you can help then they will click on your link and visit your website. Article marketing is a cross between literature and advertising.

When you are article marketing, you are literally thinking of all the ways you can persuade as you are writing. You must persuade with the title, with the keywords, with the content, with your bio, and of course you must persuade with whichever offer you are using to compel readers to click into your web site.

Internet Marketing Articles - Write More Articles Faster, and End Up With an Information Product

Internet article marketing continues to be one of the most effective ways to get traffic to your website. Not just traffic, but traffic that has prequalified itself by exercising their freedom of choice to read an article written by you on a topic related to your products and services.

One of the biggest problems with Internet Article marketing is that most people don't compound their efforts so they end up getting considerably less return as they go about trying to produce articles. This can be easily remedied if you follow these simple steps. The first step may sound familiar; it is the last couple of steps that will really compound your results. What you will find, is that often it is the little things that make a big difference.

Step one - Research your topic and find 4 or 5 key points, make sure that this information relates specifically to the keywords you have chosen based on your products or services.

Step two - Write at least 5 articles on the information you have just researched. You can do this by approaching the topic from several different perspectives as well as simply writing in different formats. For example, you can tell a story, you can write a case study, you can make a list, you can talk about it from the perspective of the general audience, and you can talk about it from the perspective of a specific audience.

Step three - Repeat the above process two to five more times. By doing this, you continue to take advantage of your previous efforts, and you have only had to focus your mind one time. One of the main points of doing this is that you really become an expert on the topic. Not only are you an expert, but you now have plenty of original written material to create an information product. What can you do with this eBook? Have you heard of information products, or viral marketing?

If you start to use this process, you will quickly start to produce many times the numbers of articles, and get many times the return on your investment of time and effort. Isn't that what it is all about, getting more for less?

Implementing The Best Affiliate Marketing Strategies

The art of marketing in the world of the Internet today is a competitive one. However, with the advent of such programs like affiliate marketing, these is now seen as an easier way of widening your reach, and attaining a significant amount of profits.

When choosing an appropriate affiliate program to join, online users need to find out how to effectively choose a successful affiliate program, because when you look in the wrong place and you find one that is questionable or unscrupulous, you may lose out big time, and not recover the time and effort you spent.

However, if you find the right one, you might end up a winner. Keep in mind that you should select the right affiliate marketing program that is in line with the Web site or blog that you are operating. It should also be related, in order to efficiently track targeted individuals to your Web site and make them click on these links.

How To Start On The Right Track In Your Online Marketing Efforts

Looking for the right program to join is crucial. In finding the best ones, you need to know that affiliate resource sites usually offer their best affiliate programs. As affiliate resources sites are specialists in these types of programs, you can be pretty sure of choosing a successful online marketing program from them. Search for the best online programs that are offered through any Internet e-zines or newsletters you receive.

You may be surprised to find out that the e-zine or newsletter owner may have a program and if they have a good online magazine, they probably will offer you a viable one. The next aspect to thin about, is to think of products or services that a;ways sell, like Web site design, e-books, travel or music. You also need to stick to proven online sellers, so that the program will have better chances of succeeding.

Write And Distribute Good-Quality Articles, And Get Good Links As Well

One good way of spreading your reach, and getting more attention from targeted online customers, is to wisely use articles for this form of Internet marketing. You may write high-quality articles and distribute them everywhere. These articles will help you in getting more and more readers and visitors to your Web site, and when online users will read your article, they will visit your Web site more often, which results in increased traffic.

In addition, you can add affiliate links in the articles you create, and these helpful links can be incorporated in all the articles, and will be published in different sites. It's a fact that many good writers out there have been very successful with their programs, therefore you need to write and distribute good-quality articles that will enthrall and increase interest and awareness among readers.

In addition, a nice way of verifying if the affiliate program you are joining is really serious about their program's commissions, is finding out the percentage they will be paying you. If a program is offering you a 10% commission, and they are keeping the rest, then you need to ask yourself if you should be in this program.

When a program pays considerable or enticing commissions, they are doing this to attract as much affiliates to their programs, which means that they can also sell higher volumes. And by getting a higher sales volume, they can also be able to give away better commissions.

How to Strategize Your Link Popularity Campaign

Link popularity is the number of links pointing to a website. It is an important factor that major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN use to rank web pages.

Webmasters figure out that in order for their web pages to rank well at the search engines for certain keywords, they need a lot of incoming links with these targeted key words. Linking schemes of all kinds were hatched...mini-sites, site networks, link farms and reciprocal linking, just to mention a few. Some schemes like link farms were clear indication of manipulating the search engines.

Google has clamped down on such practices and further fine-tuned its SERP algorithm to stop manipulation by anyone as evidenced by 'Jagger'.

Focus on the long term. Build a site that is credible to the search engines and your website visitors.

Here are 7 ethical link-building strategies for you work with...

1. Internal linking. Having a well organized internal linking structure insures that your website gets 'spidered' and that all pages of your website gets indexed by the search engines. This in turn increases the chances of the number of phrases that your website has the potential to rank for. And I have had website traffic from key phrases that I never thought of.

2. One-way links. Human edited directories look like a thing of the past. With Google being more efficient and accurate as ever there's no need to turn to human edited directories. A directory may get you a few click-throughs in a month or none at all. However, to be listed in a high quality directory like DMOZ and Yahoo can increase your PageRank.

The way to get inbound links is distribute content. There are many article directories on the Internet. Just include a link in your article. With article distribution you can choose the exact anchor text for the link.

3. Reciprocal links. What is reciprocal linking? It is simply trading links with other sites. You add their links to your site and vice versa. In times past website owners have sizeable directories with multiple links that are not relevant to theirs. Now, search engines have become wiser and look for link relevance. A word of advice here, know whom you are trading link with. Don't just choose any Tom, Dick, Harry or toothless Jane to be your link partners.

People have asked whether they would be penalized by the search engines for reciprocal links. Well, at least for now, they are still acceptable.

4. Varied the Text of your inbound links. It will not appear natural to the search engines for every site that links to you to have the same link description. So vary the text of your inbound links using a few key phrases.

5. Grow your links at a steady rate. Google penalizes new sites with low-traffic that grow their links too quickly, whereas a well-established high traffic site that increases by a few thousand links a month will viewed as normal. The rate at which links are created without being penalized by Google, is directly proportional to the age of the website. For owners of new sites, bear this in mind, if you are thinking about buying inbound links.

6. Have inbound links from different ranking sites. If all your inbound links are Pr6 and Pr7 sites, then you will send a strong indication that you have purchased those links. Your inbound links will not appear natural to the search engines. It is more natural for you to have a large number of Pr1 and Pr2 inbound links with decreasing number of inbound links as you move higher up the PageRank scale.

7. Actively participate in forums or blogs. Don't just post threads indiscriminately on forums. Search engines view this as spamming. Participate in forums to learn and to contribute to the communities and at the same time gather inbound links. You will also build credibility for yourself and your business if you are a solution to people's problems.

Blogging is an effective way of gathering inbound links. If you have a personal blog, it is easier to post comments at other sites. But do spam blast your comments with advertisements. Just provide a link to your site with your comments. Your goals are to gather inbound links and to gain a good reputation online. Comment intelligently on the specific subject. A well thought out comment will not only attract the search engines, but also more readers of the blog to your website. They will naturally link to you if they find articles of good quality at your website.

To achieve good rankings at the Search Engine through link popularity requires time and patience. Stick to the sound practices of link building. Impatience could cause you to incur penalties. It was once rumored, but now quite evident that Google uses a 'sandbox' to keep questionable sites in the hold until they have aged to a point. Then they are released at the sole discretion of Google. Other search engines also have their own safeguards to keep their SERPs from being cluttered with questionable sites.

The underlying principle is to grow your links 'organically' whilst adding content of value to your website. Ethical SEO is not a black art. It is a matter of adhering to the guidelines, terms and conditions stipulated by the search engines.
