Article Marketing is Great, But Avoid This Common Mistake

Posting articles on to web sites is one of the latest methods that web site owners and search engine optimisation practitioners use to get more and better quality traffic. Articles allow you to get multiple links with a lost less effort and better results than link exchanges and other more traditional methods.

The problem is if you submit exactly the same article to multiple sites, Google, Yahoo and some other search engines will ignore a lot of the articles due to a filter often called the duplicate content penalty. Nobody really knows how this filter works or at what level an article is rejected. Here's some techniques to overcome this penalty.

Mix and match the article elements

Your typical article directory article consists of a title, a summary, a body, an author/resource box and article keywords. The theory is if you have multiple versions of each element and combine those elements differently each time you post your article, there is less chance the search engines will see the article as a duplicate and give the article it's rightful place in the main index.

Let us say you have four different versions of each of the four major elements (assuming the keywords stay pretty much the same), that means for a little extra effort you can have 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 = 256 versions of basically the same article reducing the chances of the articles being penalized.

Article Summary

In forum posts discussing the duplicate content penalty a consistent theme is that the article summary, or snippet as it is often called, is examined very closely by the search engines for existing duplicates. As with the title, it is useful to have numerous and very different versions of that article summary.

Article Body

The best tip with the article body is to structure the text into blocks that can be rearranged at will and still make sense. The filter will not be able to identify duplicate content as easily as exact copies. This approach also makes writing the article far easier than trying to create a 500 word block of text.

Another tip when dealing with the body copy is to replace words and phrases with meaningful, but different equivalents. For example, in writing this article I can substitute the term SEO practitioner, for search engine marketer, webmaster, web site owner, online marketer or even Google guru. The article still makes sense, but it is textually different to other versions. In other words the article still has the same tone and meaning but has a large proportion of different words.

Article Titles

The article title is very important from a reader point of view as well as a duplicate penalty point of view. Many article directories use the title of the article as the basis for creating the url to that articles page. By varying the article title there is less chance of the search engines believing they have already indexed that page.

Article resource box

As most SEO practitioners realize, the resource box is a very important element, if not the most important element, of the article. It is in the resource box that article authors get the opportunity to link to the most appropriate pages in their web site. As with the other elements it can be beneficial to change the text in this section so as to avoid the duplicate content penalty. Just by rearranging the order of links and anchor text can produce excellent results.

In Summary

Article marketing is a popular technique of promoting your web site, getting links and building online credibility. The trouble is if you submit exactly the same article to multiple article directories, you run the risk of Google ignoring your article and those all important links due to the duplicate content penalty. By following the steps above you will reduce the risk and generate more traffic and better rankings for less work. For other articles in this series, visit Search Tempo dot com.

Search Engine Optimisation Explained

Just what is Search Engine optimisation or SEO? Why does it appear so valuable to so many webmasters and others with internet commerce sites? The definition of this term is simple. It is the process of ranking a site high in the pages of search engine results in order to get more visitors. The concept behind Search Engine optimisation is if your site appears on the first page of a Google or Yahoo search query result then there is a high likelihood that you will have a greater number of visitors. More visitors usually results in more business.

The definition is simple but the process is much more involved. The entity that will do the ranking of your page is not a person but a software process known as a Searchbot that finds your site, classifies it, and determines how popular it is. If it determines that a site is very popular, it ranks it higher than the others. Companies hire Search Engine optimisation consultants to analyze your web site and implement methodologies so that searchbots will be able to easily find and rank your site.

One of the first steps implemented in Search Engine optimisation is finding popular keywords for your site and then making sure that keyword appears on the top or home page frequently allowing the searchbot to classify it. For example, if the products you sell from your site are related to snow skis then you want the words snow skis to appear at several places on especially the home page. The searchbot will traverse the web, find your site, analyze the text, and determine that your site is a one selling snow skis and related products.

Part of Search Engine optimisation is to make sure that the text on your site is actually text (like what you would type in Windows Notepad). In other words, a searchbot cannot read text in images. It can only read pure ASCII character text in order to extract the keywords. The way many sites put this text on their home page is with what are known as keyword articles. In our example of a snow ski site, the webmaster would put informative articles on the home page of the site about snow ski topics. In these articles you would find the words snow skis used quite often so that the searchbot will detect it.

The other popular methodology used in Search Engine optimisation is to have a link back to your site on some other popular site related to your product. This helps the searchbot determine that your site is popular enough to be listed on an already popular site and the result is a higher ranking. If a link to your site for snow skis appears on numerous popular ski resort sites then this is an indication of popularity and searchbots will rank your site higher.

There is a lot more to Search Engine optimisation than just the two concepts above. There are issues such as what not to do. Some are tempted to stuff their sites with hidden keywords that saturate the page but cannot be seen in the browser but will be found by the searchbot. Doing this will ban your site from ever getting classified so avoid it. There are also unrealistic claims made by so-called SEO consultants to get your site ranked quickly but the process actually takes time to adjust strategies and figure out what works and what does not work. A good SEO consultant will know this.

Article Marketing - Announcing 6 Comprehensive Secrets to Supercharge Your Article Marketing

As the internet becomes more and more popular, the demand for information-based marketing techniques (such as writing and distributing articles) has increasingly grown. Today, it is considered as one of the best methods in driving targeted clients to websites and converting them into buyers.

1. Bank on your content. Your primary goal in writing and submitting articles on publishing sites is to entice your readers to click on your resource box. The best way to achieve that is by giving online users great content that showcases your knowledge on your chosen field. When your potential clients feel that you are really good on what you do, they are most likely to trust you and take your recommendations.

2. Write more. As you know, the number of your submissions equate to the number of inbound links that you can obtain for your website. The more articles you write and submit, the greater your chances of improving your traffic and page ranking.

3. Optimize your content. Identify the keywords and key phrases that are usually used by your target market when they are using search engines. Incorporate these keywords on your content to make your articles highly searchable online.

4. Check on your progress. Make it a habit to check the performance of your articles at least once a week. Identify the articles that are generating impressive click through rates and learn the elements that make them successful online. Incorporate these elements to your other articles that are seldom read.

5. Proofread. Any error found on your articles can be a threat against your online credibility and professionalism. Thus, it is of out most importance that you manually check your articles before you post them online.

6. Submit to the best publishing sites. Pick article submission sites that have steady traffic and indexed by major search engines. These are the only sites that can help you realize your article marketing goals.

Link Popularity and How Building Links Too Fast Can Get Your Site Pulled Over

Link building is one of the most important building blocks to good search engine placement and creating an overall strong presence online.

Link Popularity can make the difference between your site showing up on the first page in search results vs. being sent to the back of the line and not showing up in search results at all.

Understanding the process of having incoming links to your website as part of your Internet Marketing, which serve as both portals to your website and also serve as votes for your website. These important votes help search engines find your site and also serve as a voice to the importance of your business to search.

Some webmasters tend to go for goal right out the box creating hundreds and hundreds of incoming links through in some cases black hat techniques like link farms. But most build their links the hard way by manually exchanging links and manually submitting links to human edited directories.

Link Building for link popularity is what you need to do but did you know that linking to fast could set off alarms at search engines like Google.

How fast should your link building, link-marketing campaigns go?

Start your link building campaign steady and under control. Having your link popularity jump from 2 to 200 in a week may cause a negative affect for your website as search engines like Google view this spike as possible link farming or similar black hat approaches.

As your link popularity increases then your link building can increase along with the growth. The idea is to stay consistent with your link marketing, link building campaigns and avoid going to fast to soon.

Even if your link building campaign are on the up and up you do not want to set off unwanted red flags that could potentially bring negative attention to your website and possibly get your site black listed by search engines.

Keep in mind that Internet Marketing is a process and it does not happen over night despite what you may see and read online. If you stick to a solid plan and build quality content on your site, a quality controlled link building campaign along with other website marketing factors your site will build a stronger, long term online presence in no time at all.

Article Writing and Article Marketing - How to Write a Prospect-Pulling Resource Box

Article marketing is one of the best ways to market your business if you do it right. In my experience, you make or break your article marketing efforts in the Resource Box.

Most writers are guilty of poor article marketing because they use the resource box as sort of a virtual "ego wall" in their office.

"John/Jill Jones earned the Ph.D at Important University and is the author of several Important Books."

Well, who cares? This is a slightly exaggerated example of a resource box that does not pass the who cares test.

Article Marketing with Your Resource Box - How to Pass the "Who Cares" Test

There are three crucial steps to having a great resource box and passing the who cares test. All three of these steps involve the links back to your website used in your resource box.

Link 1 - Your first line should be a real url, or what is called an absolute url, as in http://www.reallystupendoussite.com. For instance, "Visit http://www.reallystupendoussite.com for more tips and tools for writing great articles" is a great opening for your resource box.

Link 2 - In link two and three you can use hyper-linked text. Drive prospects to your site with a line that reads like this: Subscribe to our free weekly newsletter

Link 3 - In link three you simply repeat what you did in link two and invite the reader to another important page in your website, which could be a product page.

I invite you to use these tips to increase the benefits of your article marketing.

Article Marketing - Do You Have The Willpower To Make It?

There's a reason why the top income earners from article marketing are able to do what they do - they have the willpower. They have the motivation to write 5-10 articles a day and submit them diligently to article directories. They have a system that they use almost every day to build their business, whether they are promoting their blogs, their sales pages or their lead capture pages.

If you want to make it with articles, you have to got to have this willpower. Let's face it, many of us write a few articles and then we stop. The main reason is because we don't see any results from these few articles. Well I'm here to tell you that this form of marketing is a long-term strategy. But when this strategy is in place, boy will you receive tons of traffic!

Whenever you feel bored or disinterested in writing the articles (when you know you should be), motivate yourself. Do it with music, or think of your goals. Do you really want to quit the rat race? Do you want that car you are eying? Then take massive action. Now.

Go and write those articles because while you are waiting around doing nothing, others are churning out articles left, right and center and absolutely dominating their marketplace. They are making affiliate sales, capturing leads or selling their products in abundance. Simply because they possess that willpower.

If you want to make the money you know you should have, then stick with a strategy and work it for at least a few months. You know article marketing is a long-term strategy, so take long-term, consistent action.

Article Marketing For Bloggers - 4 Tips To Build Traffic For Your Blog

Bloggers blog. Thats what they do. A blog is short for weblog and its really an online journal that can be updated easily and frequently without any knowledge of HTML code.

Traditionally, article marketing has been used by authors who are promoting their books or information products. Lately, Ive noticed a growing trend of bloggers using article marketing to grow the traffic to their blog and you should too.

Three reasons why it makes sense for bloggers to engage in article marketing:

1) Youve already got a lot of content produced in each of your blog posts. 200 words should be your floor for each article that you produce. In some cases, you already have enough words per post to create 10-50 articles instantly. If you dont, then stitch posts together of a similar theme until you have 200+ word articles to put into article marketing distribution.

2) A blogger has the same traffic building problems that any typical website has, and therefore article marketing can help your blog in the same ways it can help a non-blog website. Benefits include qualified traffic coming to your site year round, quality backlinks being built without any messy recip-linking campaigns, and youre expanding your reach to other experts that might not otherwise have found your blog.

3) Bloggers by nature are more Internet savvy than your typical author. With this said, most bloggers already understand how to create revenue with pay per click (PPC) advertising programs. As such, you already know how to produce keyword intelligent titles for their articles. This guarantees maximum traffic impact for each of your articles.

If you are already a blogger and are new to article marketing, heres how you get started:

1) Produce a cache of 10-25+ articles from your existing blog content.

2) Submit them to the major article directories and any that are niche-relevant to your field of expertise. You may also wish to submit them to ezine publishers directly from your niche.

3) Rinse and repeat until you have 250-1,000+ articles in distribution this year. Hire a college student or editor if you dont have time to get this strategy into practice as itll be well worth it.

4) Watch your traffic counter slowly rise, day by day as your articles work hard for you delivering qualified traffic to your website year round.

Article Marketing as a strategy will not break your traffic counter on your first month of investing in this strategybut, I guarantee if you engage in this strategy, your blog will grow in traffic and popularity beyond the traffic you were already creating by simply blogging. You knows, you might even increase your sales, land a new job, or improve your rank in the search engines as a side-benefit from your article marketing strategy.

Article Marketing - What Is The Magic Number Of Articles To Be Successful?

This is a question that I get asked many times by people. How many articles do I need to write to be successful with article marketing. Now let us look at some key considerations that are important to be successful with this method of marketing.

When you are first starting out it is going to be difficult to write one article a week. For most people writing does not come easily. So it is very important that you focus on doing one article a week. Once you become good at this you can increase this number to two a week.

Over time you will become very good at writing at you will be able to write five articles a day. Then you can gradually increase this and you will be writing ten articles a day.

So back to the original question. How many articles should you have written to start seeing measurable results. You need at least two hundred and fifty articles to start seeing good results and determine if you are progressing with your article marketing. If you were thinking of only writing a few articles sorry to disappoint you.

So what is the magic number of how many articles that I need to write? You need to write as many as possible. You see the more articles you have in distribution with the article directories the higher the number of readers of your articles. This equals more subscribers and more paid customers. Knowing this information once you become good at writing you may want to write at least ten articles a day.

Hopefully this information will motivate you to write more articles so that you can increase your business.

Article Writing Mistakes--5 Easy Steps To Avoid These Mistakes In Article Marketing

Can you relate to this? You've heard that writing articles creates massive traffic for you, you write an article and wait for the magic to happen. You think writing a feature article, you're going to be instantly successful. When you look at simple mistakes you are making, you can also solve them with just a little tweaking. Remember, article marketing is still the best way to get a lot of targeted traffic to your web site, and increase clients and product sales to match.

Mistake #1 - You don't submit - Believe it or not, there are many article writers you simply do not submit their articles. Procrastination and fear of rejection are the two most common reasons for not submitting articles. You simply must push past the procrastination and do it now. Procrastinate later, do it now. Article directories, the good ones that is, will help you get your article up to speed if it needs a bit of tweaking before it is published. No need to fear rejection here.

********* Solution:**********
Make sure you submit to the popular article directories, do it straight away. Choose one's like Ezinearticles.com, Goarticles.com, Articlecity.com. There are lots more, but there are too many to list here. You should go to Google and search for Article Directories.

Mistake #2 - You believe that just as few articles will do - Some people complain - "I submitted some articles and got nothing, this stuff doesn't work." Let me tell you, this stuff works, you just didn't work it. This is a numbers game - the more articles you get our there working for you, the better article marketing will work for you.

********** Soulution: **********

Dedicate yourself to writing more articles. Get a routine going, put yourself into a mindset of how doing this will benefit you ten fold. Get a template you can model your articles on, like this one. Why not use this one your reading now. If you put your mind to it you could easily write 20-50 articles per week

Mistake #3 - One of the things I've seen is, people just throw up any old article - I've found that many article writers just sort of "throw up" their article and up and hope for the best. I have identified some typical mistakes that article writers make. For example, one tip is "Make the Key words come first" in your title. "The Top 7 Reasons You Need to Write and Market Articles" is a bad title. "Article Writing - The Top 7 Reasons You Need to Ramp Up Your Article Writing" is a great title. Key words come first.

**********Soulution:**********
Before you submit your article, read it and read it again, is it addressing a problem for your readers? Are you answering the questions. Look at your Niche Keyword, for instance, it might be, "Affiliate Marketing", Use this in the start of your Headline. Like this, Affiliate Marketing--6 Reasons You Need To Succeed At Affiliate Marketing". Get the idea.

Mistake #4 - The opening sentence. Many writers don't put anything in the first paragraph that makes the reader want to read more. What I mean is, ' State the problem they have', like the affiliate marketing example above. You could use, " Have you tried to make money with affiliate marketing only to find you spend more on buying the so-called get rich programs that promise you the world, and you make nothing?"

**********Soulution:**********
Make your opening sentence address a problem. Relate to your reader and what they're experiencing. Feel their pain, write about it. Let them know that you know what they are feeling and put it in print.

Mistake #5 - Format. When I see some articles I cringe, they don't read well, they look like their just thrown together. There's no white space and no bulleting or numbering. By using bullets or numbering, the eyes of the reader naturally focus on this area. It makes for easier reading, hence your article is bound to be read by more readers. Which means your article will be picked up by more web masters and more TRAFFIC for YOU.

This article aims to help the article marketer reach their goals with creating more traffic and get more back links.

Free Website Traffic For Pink Cows And Purple Pigs

Web site owners looking to gain more free search engine traffic will need to be working on the area of link building. Offsite factors such as gaining external backlinks, have shown to give proven results. Unfortunately some webmasters actually confuse The major search engines by telling them that that sell "purple pigs" when actually they sell "pink cows".

Then, as if to make it worse, they miss the human or "real factor". This was provided in a recent interview on a top ranking site in a very competitive industry, golf gifts. A search term that has over 20 million results and an estimated 57,838 searches per month.

Lets look at a website that sells exclusive gifts, like pink cows and purple pigs. They plan a linking campaign and firstly aim at the first single keyword term "pink pigs" and so they structure the link text and description as follows:

"Pink Pigs" All pink pig gifts - all sizes and shapes.

Using the anchor text "pink pigs"- to link back to the home page. Now lots of effort goes into seeking the correct links, aiming at this term. It progresses well and the ranking is achieved to every ones delight- " Look a number ranking for pink pigs! we are really great!" (large pat on the back)

Then the term goes of in hunt for the second term purple cows and follows the same process. They achieve the same results- however they have dissolved the anchor text of the number of links and the first ranking achieved, slips. It then becomes a juggling game to get the ranking for both keywords.

Essentially the have Google "scratching its head" .what subject is the page/site really about?

So what is the better option so as avoid this- two options:

Deep linking- This is the linking to internal pages rather than the home page, so in the first case, you would generate links to this page as http://www.thesite.com/pink-pigs.html and then proceed to do the exact same process for the other search term.

The downside of this is that it still does require different linking campaigns takes time and splitting of resources. A better option is that of combining and adding the human factor, after all, Google provides results for humans after all, and the quality of the results is high on the agenda. In this case, you could create a better anchor text and description such as:

"Purple Cow Gifts - Shop online for all manner of purple cow and pink pig gift sets, with discount specials every week"

This is also human friendly, and although its main aim is top search engine ranking, it could be seen as a normal, human based link. Include both the terms in the description, and then on the actual site the title of the home page makes sense. Then in the first paragraph on the home page could mention both search terms as well as link directly to those specific pages (www.thesite.com/pink-pigs.html etc) this would make sense to both the search engine spiders, used for finding and displaying results, and to humans.

A site that has realised this, and has the results to show it is thegolfcollection.com which has the number 1 ranking for not only golf gifts but number 4 for golf accessories out of 20 million results.

Lets take a site that sells gifts, like pink cows and purple pigs.

For this reason, planned keyword research is needed prior to any linking campaign for SEO results, for both the anchor text and the description.

An excellent tool for information on keyword research is Aaron Walls keyword tool:

http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/

This tool should be used together with an Adwords Campaign to gain the most accurate measure of the volume of searches for your terms, before any SEO link building activities take place.

The human that is searching has to be kept in mind. You want people to click on the link. It should appear to Google and the other major engines that this the primary purpose of the link. This SEO link building strategy will bring your success for years to come and large amounts of free traffic your competition would love to get there hands on. To your success!

Article Marketing: Breaking Free

As a prolific article writer I have been asked by some how I am able to generate so many quality articles in such a short period of time. Frankly, it isnt always easy, but there are some things I would like to share with you in order that you may, perhaps, increase your production as I have. Increased production for you means additional and regular submissions resulting in greater exposure of your name on the world wide web. All of this should translate into more money for you, the chief reason for article marketing I might add.

In a seven month period this past year, I wrote over 400 articles that were submitted to various article directories on the internet. In addition, I wrote another 1100 articles for clients that were then delivered to them to publish on their own sites. These web content articles were all short, concise, and generally averaged below 250 words for each article. Most of my regular articles are typically 500 words in length with the rare article or two approaching 1500 words. Still, this achievement was no small feat for me, especially when the subject matter brought me into unfamiliar territory.

After much trial and error I have learned that the best way for me to keep my production high -- while at the same time delivering useful and interesting content -- meant that I had to streamline my operation. The following are some tried and true practices that I have put to the test and you can too.

Stick With What You Know -- I dont mind writing on subjects that I have little knowledge about, but in doing so I can get bogged down by excess research time. If I am writing for a client, I charge accordingly once they are aware that I am writing in an area that is outside of my particular areas of expertise and they are still desiring to utilize my services. As far as submitting articles to the online directories, I purely keep my subject matter limited to a handful of areas where I shine.

Start, Then Stop -- There are times when I am in the midst of writing an article that I find myself unable to complete my undertaking due to a lack of information. If I cannot garner what I need right away, I put the unfinished article to the side until I obtain the information needed to complete the job. Lets just say that I have a regular supply of go-to articles that I plan on finishing at a later time. I dont get hung up on any one article, instead I move on and focus on the next. Overall, my production level stays high as I dont let one article hamper my work flow.

Outlines, Everywhere -- Well, not exactly. Still, there are times when I am in between projects, but still in the writing mood [which for me is almost always!] Therefore, what I do to stay busy is to craft a list of article subjects or titles and then work on writing an outline or two or threeyou get the picture! Some of these outlines have come in handy when a client requests a specific topic. I simply pull out the outline, expand on each of the points I already have listed, and I flesh out my article. Quickly and almost effortlessly a draft version is ready and sent out for my clients review. At times I use the same technique for submitting work to the various article directories.

Be Consistent -- If you arent writing on a regular basis, getting started again can become much harder to do than if you were to write on a consistent basis. In the days before electronic fuel injection was standard equipment [guess which topic I write on chiefly?], a cold car could take long to warm up. Much like those particular automobiles of yesteryear you need a constant stream of fuel [articles] going to stay warm. The hotter you are, the more you will produce.

In all, article writing is an enjoyable task for some while it is laborious for others. As you write, do not overly concern yourself with style, grammar, punctuation, and verbiage as these are things you can massage once your draft is done. Break free of the article writing rut and get yourself into a working rhythm today. If you do, you will become a recognized and respected author in no time.

List Building- 5 Ways to Boost Opt-Ins and Conversion

One really great place to take advantage of other companies' testing is to visit MarketingExperiments.com. Of course, the tests aren't your own, so you can't depend on them solely to operate your business, but it's a great place to start.

A little more than 3 years ago, MarketingExperiments.com conducted a study on subscription rates. They based their findings on many different variables, and though the tests are old, the principles still apply. I'd like to share some of the results with you here:

1) Make your value proposition prominent

A value proposition tells your potential subscriber what's in it for them. The value proposition gives the primary benefit a person will get from joining your list. For instance, what if your niche is bowling? If you can tell people how to increase their scores 20% just by using a special technique via a special report that people can sign up for on your list building page, do you think avid bowlers would bite? No doubt. Especially if the report you give them is free. This value proposition should be your headline.

2) Easy, fast sign-up

Stick to simple information, such as first name and email address when putting an opt-in box on your list building page. The easier you make it for people to sign up for your list, the more likely they will be to do it.

3) Let people know you'll protect their information.

In these days of identity theft, which is all over the media, people are very leery of signing up for anything, especially online. Let them know that you're one of the good guys, at least in theory. "We protect your privacy. Your information will never be sold, rented, or given to anyone for any reason" would be a helpful statement, if you place it directly under your opt-in box on your list building page.

4) Advertise your low-risk factor.

If you let people know that they can unsubscribe at any time, they'll be more likely to sign up. Some people are reluctant to join any lists just because of the sheer volume of mail that arrives in their inboxes on a daily basis. By letting them know they can unsubscribe without trouble, you'll get more people to sign up.

5) Make your list building page the top of your sales funnel.

When leading people to buy your product, which is the true purpose of any list building page, you need to lead them through the process. This begins when they opt-in and it continues with the redirect after they click the submit button. This should be the sales page for your product. Though your special report will sell your product throughout, you'll also want to send list members autoresponder messages with more information about your niche. At the end of each informational email, you include a link to your sales page. Many times, after you've delivered a bit more helpful content, people will come to respect you and buy what it is you're selling.

List building and conversion will see a boost if you incorporate these ideas into your list building pages. Just remember that your customer's question, "What's in it for me?" should always be at the top of your mind. If you can show them what's in it for them, if you help them solve their problems, you'll not only have a valuable list member, but you'll have a customer for life.

Link Horse Trading For The PR Challenged

After 105 days Google finally updated PR. And its about time. There for awhile you couldnt swing a dead cat and not hit an anxious post on a seo forum wondering where the update was.

Still you cant blame them for asking. PR obsession is catchy. (And you know if you're obsessed.) Besides when you have a metric to help identify a higher quality link trade from a lesser one, why not use it?

But maybe its time to start thinking in terms of linking in a post PR world. You know without consideration of that little green bar of PR. (gasp) Well, okay what was I thinking? Lets not go that far - yet!

Yet if 105 days between PR updates becomes the standard maybe we should discuss what owners of PR challenged sites can do to get links. As long as we can agree none of the ideas Im about to share will work nearly as well as having PR 6 links pages.

Agreed? Good. Then lets pass GO and see if we cant collect $200. Or at least snag a few links for those PR 2 or PR 3 sites waiting for the next PR update by using "bundling" or "multiplying". Starting with a

===> Link Bundle Up

By "bundle up" I mean to sneak in one or two lower pagerank sites along with a site with decent PR in the link swap request. Put your potential partners linking info on all sites. Email your linking info for all including the PR challenged sites. Then see how many take the bait. The decent PR link could just be the sugar that helps them swallow trading links with a zero PR site. Especially if you point out you have a history of developing high PR sites.

===> Link Bundle Up - All or None

Place more than one linking opportunity on your add url page. And insist that to get any links a link partner must link to all.

===> Link Bundle Up - Ethical Bribe

You might call this one "being creative" so put on your thinking cap. Come up with an answer for the question "What can I offer in exchange for a link?"

Reason for asking? I just got an email from an apparently brand new PPC offering me three things:

  • a customized toolbar to give to my customers

  • rights to 2 CDs worth of stuff to give away

  • $50 worth of clicks
An appealing package, no? All for just a link? Why not?

Sure you may not have that much to offer. But maybe you could put together a commercial grade special report to give away as an inducement? Which could be used as a bonus for new subs or bundled in with their product. Made all the more appealing if it has links to your product your partner could brand with their affiliate ID?

===> Link Multiplication

Lets unleash the horse trader in you. Offer a 3:1, 5:1, or whatever it takes for one - link swap. Making it clear that by helping you with one link your partner stands to gain so much more. Especially since once PR updates theyll have X high PR links back to their site from yours. All for the price of one measly link to you. Put that way theyre really helping themselves arent they?

===> More Link Multiplication

Offer a link on your links page plus throw in a directory link.

Even better heres where you can get a nifty directory script - no charge. Its called Link Management Assistant. http://www.onlinemarketingtoday.com/software/link-management

Using a tightly themed directory as a link magnet has the potential to take on a life of its own. As it pulls in links to your site by the droves.

So there you have it. Five ways to bundle or multiply your linking opportunities.

Look, we traded links long before Google pagerank even existed. So while those around you are suffering from "poor PR" angst it might not be a bad idea to test other ways to get links dont you think?

Sure its more work.

Yes your hit rate will probably be less than if youre offering a link from a page sporting PR 6.

But any links you do land will be better than nothing, right? And can jumpstart your link building efforts. Even when dealing with the PR obsessed - while you wait for the next 105 days to pass. Ooops, just kidding about that 105 days part. I hope.

How Do I Drive Traffic To My Website?

Achieving a high ranking in the search engines for competitive or high searched keyword phrases is something that all webmasters wish to achieve. Unfortunately this is much simpler said than done. Sometimes people have the illusion that it could just take a couple of days or months before they will be receiving hoards of web traffic after they have done their various strategies. I suppose this can be possible if your website links to the right sources, but it can generally take several months and possibly even years before a website or blog will rank well for a keyword phrase, once the link building process has been completed.

I would like to share my knowledge and provide you with 4 important link building tips which should help you get the rankings you desire.

Website SEO Tips.

Your meta tags and website content are first factor.Make sure your website has as much unique content on it on all the different pages it has.Your title should be a highly searched phrase in your niche with little competition and your keywords must contain all the necessary combinations of searchable phrases separated by commas.

Link Building.

1. Articles.

Write articles based on your niche and submit them to article directories.Always make sure to have a link back to your website and use anchor text. It is important to vary your content from directory to directory otherwise you will be penalized for duplicate content.

2. Directories.

The quality of backlinks from directories is questionable but can still provide you with free links. There are loads of directories out there to submit to. Just make sure you once again alternate your title and description when submitting your website to the different directories.

3. Forums.

Join a forum which is related to your websites niche and put your website link in your signature with anchor text. This will help your website ranking greatly and give you quality backlinks. Try not to spam too much with this method as moderators will just ban you.

4. Link Exchange.

If you can contact the owner of a website in the same niche as you with a high ranked website, you can offer to exchange links which can dramatically help your rankings. One link from a high page rank homepage with many backlinks can be more effective than a couple of hundred directory links.

I hope these 4 link building tips will help you in your campaigns.

Building Your Subscriber List

Ever heard that much used phrase "the moneys in the list?" of course you have, you've seen it thrashed around the internet like a popular catchphrase on a TV show.

But is it really all about the list? Yes that's why you've got to start building your subscriber list early on, build up your available contacts and repeat visitors from your websites.

To do this it's best to choose one of the best auto responder services such as Aweber or get response, but I'm sure there are many other good ones out there and start creating content, helpful, relevant and targeted content for your future subscribers to suck up.

Also quality auto responders have the added advantage of using double opt in, so that it protects you from being classed as a spammer, double opt in of course is when you have to do an extra step of confirming that you have subscribed to a certain newsletter or list by clicking a confirm link in your email.

Joint ventures can also result in huge subscriber sign-ups.

This is were you make an agreement between yourself and a relevant JV niche site partner, were the JV partner agrees to promote your product in exchange for a commission and the other way round. It is often not uncommon for most marketers to gain thousands of subscribers in a joint venture arrangement.

Joint Ventures are a great way to get something for free. You could, for example, you could contact an ezine publisher and offer him a free copy of your product if he'll promote your product with his subscribers. The most important thing is to offer something of added value to both your JV partner and his list subscribers.

To finish building a mailing list you should be creative in the way you obtain future subscribers and really take advantage of the free resources you have out there on the internet, creating landing pages with over delivered free bonuses is a proven method of gathering subscribers and if they unsubscribe after getting the free bonuses, then you have the back up plan of in your free bonuses you placed a few affiliate links that they may have overlooked and a sale or two is generated, especially if they pass it on to others.

So rather than first thinking that "the money is in the list", think more on the lines of "the secrets in the list"

Article Marketing And List Building For Success

Out of all the ways to build an opt in list of subscribers, article marketing has to be one of the best. Why is it the best? Actually there are many reasons why article marketing is great for list building. Some of them are:

1 - writing articles doesn't cost you any money. However it does cost you time.

But the good thing is, once you start writing article, you can crank out 10 or more per day. The more articles you write, the more traffic and subscribers you receive.

2 - article marketing builds a very responsive list of subscribers who have already shown interest in your niche.

By taking the time to read your article, click to your web site, enter their name and email address, these people will be more responsive to your offers and emails.

As long as your give them useful information mixed in with great products, your profits will soar.

3 - articles product a sense of trust in the reader. After reading an original article that you've written, it's as though you have personally sat down with the reader and talked with them one on one.

Building trust is a key element in your list building efforts.

If your subscribers do not trust you, they simply will not respond to you or purchase from you.

That is why your articles must be written as if you were simply talking to a friend about your topic. Just like the article you are reading right now.

Link Popularity: Why It's The Best Investment You Can Do For Your Business

More and more search engines rank your web pages based on the number of links that point to your web site (link popularity). Google uses link popularity as its most important factor in ranking sites. HotBot, AltaVista, MSN, Inktomi, and others also use link popularity in their formulas.

In the near future every major search engine will use link popularity, so developing and maintaining good link exchange campaigns are essential to the success of your business. Also, finding the right partner to exchange links with is equally as important as becoming a member of a link farm can be devastating to your long term search goals.

Your exchange link partner should be reputable in the industry, and should provide links back to you on pages that have a high page rank. The end goal is to have the greatest number of websites pointing to you saying on the link itself, Your Company Offering (insert your key phrases here).

For a good ranking on Google, Inktomi and Altivista, you need good links that point to your site. If you develop a strong content oriented site you can persuade thousands of other webmasters to link to you or to trade links with you. If you want to do it yourself, all you need is the right content, the right email letter, and a keen eye for finding sites that well link to your site.

The key is to develop content people want to link to and then get out there and make the contacts by visiting people's sites, sending out personalized emails to webmasters of sites you have visited, and networking in discussion groups.

You can also make posts in forums related to your industry to increase your link popularity. Just do a search on any search engine with your industry + forums or discussions and you should be able to find a few discussion boards where you can make posts.

Make sure that you find a way to participate on the discussion as opposed to just posting an ad that's not related to what people are talking about. Another way that you can greatly increase the link popularity of your website is by publishing articles. There are literally thousands of ezine and newsletter publishers that would love to publish your article on their ezine.

Again, if you search for ezines related to your industry you should find plenty of places where you can submit an article and see it bring lots of targeted traffic. Make sure you place your resource box at the bottom of the article and require publishers to keep it there.

That's it for now. For more info on how you could Get a High Ranking on Google in 3 Days, Visit www.WebProfitSecrets.com/FastonGoogle

Planning A Keyword Strategy

Keywords are the most important decisions an SEO must make when starting out. Choosing the right keywords will determine the overall SEO strategy and can make all the difference, saving both time and expense in the campaign.

The core of most Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, work is good planning. Virtually all future efforts will be based on the initial choices made about goals and strategies. Chief amongst these choices is that of keywords. The keywords chosen will determine how much of a struggle the SEO efforts will take and what kind of strategy will be used. This is why careful analysis is required in the choice of keywords. Choose poorly and the consequences in terms of time and money can be steep.

Building The List

The keyword choice process is one of elimination. The first step is the easiest, brainstorming as many candidate keywords as possible. The hard part is taking that big list and picking out the truly worthwhile entries. When brainstorming, think in the broadest terms possible about the products, services, and industry in which the business operates. The object is to create a very broad list, as it will be more likely to contain the terms best suited to the overall SEO strategy chosen.

Process of Elimination

With the list prepared, it is time to start eliminating choices. Keep in mind the following basic SEO rules when doing this. First, any one page, including your website's homepage, can only be effectively optimized for 2-3 keywords or keyphrases. This number can be higher, but that depends on the use of fairly obscure keywords and phrases. Though not usually ideal, one should not entirely discount obscure words and phrases. They can be useful and will be touched upon later. With a 2-3 max in mind, make a short list of what is considered "ideal" in terms of the business or products being offered. One can always optimize internal pages for additional terms if the homepage cannot support all the most highly prized keywords.

Doing The Homework

Research the chosen keywords. This can be accomplished through a variety of ways. First, and most rudimentary, check them in the search engines. View the listings and get a feel for the "competition." Some keywords are more hotly contested than others, though, and this might not be apparent by a mere glance at the results. This is where some deeper analysis is warranted. Various tools exist to gauge the popularity of keywords. Most well known is, perhaps, "Wordtracker.com", a keyword analysis tool that requires a monthly fee to use. Many marketers consider its information invaluable, though, providing a good idea of how many people are likely to be searching on a particular keyword or keyphrase. As a general rule of thumb, the more searches, the more competitive it may be. Alternatively the Overture Keyword Selector Tool provides similar information at no charge. Both tools are also useful as suggestion tools, as they will provide a list of related searches that might provide more valuable keywords than were already chosen.

Two Strategies

The data from Wordtracker or Overture, or both, will provide an good idea how much effort will be required to appear in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) for a particular keyword or phrase. The more searches, the likely more competitive. More general searches are more common, and these can be the hardest to successfully optimize. This is where more obscure terms and phrases can be useful. Depending on the business or products being sold, some kinds of more obscure phrases can be very useful.

For instance, someone searching on "cars" could have any number of reasons for doing so. "Cars" is very popular term, and trying to optimize for it would require a great deal of time and money. Whereas someone searching for a particular type of car, or, better yet, a particular type of car in a certain area, is far more likely to be looking to buy that kind of car. There will also be far fewer people doing that search than for "cars", perhaps making it easier to optimize a site or product page for that keyword instead. The traffic from the specific, individual search is also far more highly targeted and far more likely to click through and make a purchase.

It is important not to lose sight of the purpose of the SEO campaign, that of driving potential customers to the business's website so they will purchase a product or service. Optimizing for very broad, general terms can drive large amounts of traffic if successful, but a far smaller percentage of that traffic is likely to buy. Optimizing for more targeted keywords might not bring as much traffic, but that traffic is more likely to make a purchase. Finding the right balance is important. For some companies, the broad, large amount of traffic may still be preferable and create more sales than the smaller, targeted traffic.

Conclusions

Keyword choice is one of the most important to be made in SEO. What keywords are chosen will determine whether the overall strategy is broad and directed at a large amount of traffic, or small and directed at smaller, more targeted audiences. Each has their merits, though one will generally be more expensive than the other. Always research keywords and know their value before proceeding. Optimizing for poorly chosen keywords is a mistake that takes a lot of time to overcome.

Role Of Spider SEO

Know Thy SEO Spider

NO I am not talking about the eight-legged hairy creatures of nightmares. These spiders are electronic, used by search engines, and if you ignore them they give you nightmares that will haunt you every waking moment

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is all about common sense; it doesn't necessitate specific knowledge of algorithms, programming and classifications. All it requires is a basic understanding of how search engines spiders work. Taking care of the search engine spiders likes and dislikes can prove to be crucial for the health and success of your website.

The Spider at Work

They are called spiders because they crawl over the Web in search of content. Search engines gather data about a website by 'sending' the spider or bots to 'read' the site and copy its content. This content is stored in the search engine's database. As they copy and absorb content from one document, they create record links and send other bots to make copies of content on those linked documents this process goes on and on. As of now the major search engines have established databases that measure their size in the tens of billions using this process.

Spiders are designed to read site content like a human. It will start at the top left hand corner, reading line by line. In case of columns spiders will read the left hand column before moving to central and right hand column. It will read and record the whole site to the very last word.

Likes of the Spider

Provide clear paths for spiders to follow, put easy to follow text links directed to the most important pages in the site at the bottom of each document. The sitemap is the most important link in the site as it directs spiders through the website.

Provide as much relevant key word rich text as possible. Search engine spiders read the text that is on your Web site to decide if your site is relevant or not. If they do not find the keyword being searched they will simply ignore your site and move to the next site. Also make sure the text is relevant and makes sense.

Provide clear identification between areas that to be used and areas that are off limit to the spiders.

Provide clear titles; after the URL of a site, the first information a spider records is the title of the site. Titles should have the most important keyword targets.

Provide a well written Description Meta tag. Search engines use Description Meta tag to collect information on the topic or theme of the site.

Dislikes of the Spider

Avoid Very large volume in content. Spiders can only download a fraction of the Web pages within a given time frame, so if you have too much it might skip the most important parts.

Avoid dynamic page generation, spiders generally tend to avoid pages having any resources that have a "?" i.e. dynamic in nature. Stick to static generation spiders prefer them.

Avoid too many graphics. Spiders are not fond of graphics as they are not readable for them so keep it simple.

Avoid Key word misuse. Don't just string a lot of keywords together, remember the spiders are very smart and they will ban you for spamming.
